☀️ - Bright, indirect light will give a lush and striking plant with a very healthy growth. Avoid harsh sun as this will burn the leaves, and lower light conditions will stagger growth.
💧- Let the top inch of the soil dry before you water it. The coffee plant likes being slightly damp but avoid soil being waterlogged. Over winter cut back on watering a little.
🌡️- Normal room temperature is just fine. Coffea likes lower temperature fluctuations as indoor they can get too dry. Mist them more during dryer months.
🪴- Coffea Arabica should be repotted every spring and needs slightly acidic soil, rich but well draining. A soil mixture with both perlite and vermiculite is recommended.

Care
The coffee plant is native to Ethiopia and has evergreen glossy leaves slightly ruffled at the edges. She is the species responsible for most of the world’s coffee production and makes a great indoor plant. In the spring she will grow small, highly fragrant flowers, followed by green fruits that ripen and turn red, eventually darken to almost black. Each of the berries will contain two seeds - in the right conditions you may get enough for an espresso.
Place your coffee plant in a bright, indirect light for healthy growth. A place with a good view to the sky but no direct sun is ideal, because insufficient light will slow growth.
Water little but frequently during the warmer months allowing the top layer to dry out each time, over winter you have to make sure the soil is dry half way down, or slightly damp at root level at all times, never waterlogged.
Repot during spring when the roots are coiling in the bottom, using a house potting soil with perlite for drainage and vermiculite for retaining some moisture.
Problems
- Leaf browning: Underwatering
- Yellowing leaves: Overwatering, poor drainage, or insufficient light for photosynthesis
- Leaf drop: Sudden temperature changes
- Smaller growth: Insufficient light, or can also be caused by nutrient deficiency
