This Alocasia is believed to be a mutation of Alocasia Portei. It’s not very common and definitely one for the collectors. With very unusual shaped leaves, deeply loved and dark veins running through them with a lighter green hue, this is a sculptural plant with such a nice textured foliage and elegant upright form. Definitely a must in any plant collection.
☀️- Make sure you place Alocasia near a window or in a very bright room, however avoid the direct sunlight. Low light conditions will quickly deteriorate your plant
💧- Alocasia’s root system has tuberous rhizomes and they store water for a while. Make sure you allow your plant to dry out between watering, cutting back over winter. Just don’t allow the soil to go crispy dry, but also never waterlogged.
🌡️- Keep warm as Alocasias are tropical plants, ideally above 18°C all year around. In colder rooms over winter they might go dormant so keep up the warmth and raise humidity around them.
🪴- Once roots are coming out of the pot, change the soil to a rich, but well draining soil mix. Some perlite and vermiculite mixed in the soil will not go amiss.
🐾- Toxic to pets.
