Sometimes known as The Rattlesnake Plant, the upright, lance-shaped leaves have long wavy edges that form in clumps, spreading slowly over time. This wonderfully showy house plant has variegated leaves with dark green strokes on a pale green background. All that beauty comes with a trade off however and that is in the care requirements.
☀️- Don’t place your Calathea in a very shaded location. Despite popular belief, Calathea needs bright, indirect light, completely protecting her from the sun. Remember a shaded location outdoors does not resemble a dark corner of your room.
💧- During the growth period keep the soil slightly damp, not soggy. Water when the top layer of soil feels dry making sure the plant is not sat in water, reduce during winter. The Calathea will prefer rain or filtered water. This plant loves high humidity so misting every couple of days is a must.
🌡️- Calatheas like to be consistently warm. Maintain a regular temperature of 18-27°C through the year, preferably in a high humidity location.
🪴- Repot every couple of years only changing pot size if it has outgrown the original. Requires a well draining potting mix.
🐾- Pet friendly.
