Pinguicula Tina - Butterwort
☀️ - During the spring and summer, be sure to provide a brightly lit spot with up to three hours of direct light per day - an east or west-facing window is an excellent example. Once autumn kicks in, be sure to increase the exposure up to five hours a day, using either an east, south, or west - facing windowsill. Sun will scorch its leaves so try to avoid this
💧 - Do not allow the soil to dry out, you want to keep the compost wet during the warmer months. Bottom water a little every day preferably with rain water. If you are unable to use rain water then soft or distilled water would be ok. During winter just keep it slightly damp to touch.
🌡️ - Prefers 21-35C. During winter the plant will handle cooler temperatures as low as 5C.
🪴 - Does not need repotting until the roots are clearly visible from the drainage holes. Only repot in March/April after its dormancy period and select a rich soil designed for carnivorous plants.
🐾 - Not known to be but can cause irritation.

Fruit flies and fungal gnats love this plant - and vice versa. The bugs are lured onto the sticky surface with a scent of sweet nectar and shiny appearance. The fact that the soil is quite wet also brings in the gnats. Once they get trapped in the acid on the leaves, they break down the soft tissues of the bug and leave the outer exoskeleton.
Did you know: During the dormancy period in the cooler months, it'll produce non-carnivorous leaves that act solely for photosynthesis, due to the absence of edible insects. Once the spring arrives, new mucilaginous leaves will develop from its centre, readying itself to catch and digest potential victims for nourishment.
