Anthurium ‘Matata’ | Flamingo Flower

Anthurium ‘Matata’ is a compact flowering houseplant with glossy foliage and colourful, waxy blooms. Her flowers can last for weeks, making her a lovely way to brighten a shelf, desk or windowsill. Like other anthuriums, she enjoys warmth, indirect light and a little extra humidity.

☀️ Light
Give her bright, indirect light to encourage healthy growth and flowering. Avoid harsh direct sunshine, which can scorch her leaves and blooms.

💧 Watering
Water when the top couple of centimetres of compost begin to dry. Keep the compost lightly moist but never waterlogged, and allow excess water to drain away. Water less frequently in winter.

🌡️ Temperature & Humidity
Around 18-27°C is ideal. She appreciates higher humidity, so a bright bathroom or kitchen can be a good spot if there’s enough light. Protect her from cold draughts.

🪴 Potting
Use an airy, free-draining mix, such as houseplant compost mixed with orchid bark and perlite. A pot with drainage holes is essential.

✂️ Pruning
Remove faded flowers and yellowing leaves by cutting them close to the base with clean scissors.

🌿 Growing Tips
With sufficient light, warmth and feeding during spring and summer, she may flower repeatedly. Wipe her leaves gently to keep them looking their best.

Anthuriums contain calcium oxalates and are toxic to cats and dogs if eaten.
