Commonly known as the Flamingo Flower, Anthurium Scherzerianum is admired for the large heart shaped flowers, and a very distinctive orange-reddish spadix that eventually starts to curl. Unlike the regular flowering Anthuriums, these flowers will last longer and the leaves are more spear-shaped.
☀️ - Prefers bright, indirect light. Too much direct sun will scorch the leaves, while insufficient light can reduce flowering. It will tolerate medium light but blooms best in brighter spots.
💧 - Keep the soil lightly moist, allowing the top inch to dry between waterings. Do not let it sit in water. Use lukewarm, soft water where possible. Over winter, reduce watering slightly but never allow the soil to fully dry out.
🌡️ - Thrives in warm, humid conditions between 18-26°C. Avoid cold draughts and sudden temperature changes. Benefits from higher humidity, so position away from radiators and consider grouping with other plants to maintain moisture in the air.
🪴 - Repot every 1-2 years in spring using a chunky, free-draining, peat-free mix rich in bark or perlite to support its epiphytic roots. Move only one pot size up. Water a day before repotting, and water again after to settle the mix. Avoid planting too deep, keeping the roots slightly above the surface.
🐾 - Toxic to pets.
