Epipremnum pinnatum ‘Marble King’ is a beautiful tropical houseplant with green leaves covered in creamy marbled variegation. As she matures, her leaves can become larger and develop more pronounced splits, particularly when she has something to climb. She can be grown trailing from a shelf or trained up a moss pole for a more mature look.
☀️ Light
Bright, indirect light is best and will help maintain her marbled variegation. She can enjoy some gentle morning or evening sunshine, but avoid strong direct midday sun. Too little light can slow growth and cause the variegation to become less pronounced.
💧 Watering
Water when the top few centimetres of compost have dried out. Water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain away. Avoid keeping her constantly wet, as this can lead to root problems. Reduce watering during autumn and winter when growth slows.
🌡️ Temperature & Humidity
Keep her somewhere warm, ideally around 18-27°C. She enjoys higher humidity but can adapt to average household conditions. Keep her away from cold draughts and dry heat from radiators.
🪴 Potting
Use a chunky, free-draining aroid mix containing peat-free compost or coco coir, orchid bark and perlite. If you want larger, more mature leaves, give her a moss pole or sturdy support to climb.
✂️ Pruning
Trim back long or unwanted stems to maintain her shape. Remove yellow or damaged leaves at the base. Healthy cuttings can be propagated to make new plants.
🌿 Growing Tips
Give her something to climb if you want those larger, more mature leaves. Rotate the pot occasionally so growth stays even and wipe the leaves to remove dust. Bright light is particularly important for maintaining her lovely marble variegation.
🐾 Not Pet Friendly
Epipremnum pinnatum contains calcium oxalate crystals and is toxic if eaten, so keep her away from pets and children.
