Hoya Kerrii | Love Heart Plant

A little heart-shaped leaf that makes a lovely gift for plant lovers, Hoya kerrii is often sold as a single-leaf plant in a small pot. Her thick, fleshy green leaf stores moisture, so she doesn't need frequent watering. Just keep in mind that a single rooted leaf without a stem or growth node will usually remain a single leaf rather than growing into a full, trailing Hoya.

☀️ Light
Bright, indirect light is ideal. She can enjoy a little gentle morning or evening sunshine, but avoid strong midday sun through glass, which can scorch her leaf.

💧 Watering
Let the compost dry out well between waterings, then water sparingly and allow any excess to drain away. As the leaf stores moisture, she is much happier being a little too dry than sitting in wet compost. Reduce watering during autumn and winter.

🌡️ Temperature & Humidity
Around 18-27°C is ideal. Average household humidity is usually fine, although she appreciates a warm spot away from cold draughts and sudden temperature changes.

🪴 Potting
Use a small pot with drainage holes and a free-draining mix, such as houseplant compost with added perlite. Avoid moving her into a much larger pot, as excess compost can stay wet for too long.

✂️ Pruning
No pruning is needed for a single-leaf plant. Keep the leaf clean and remove it only if it becomes damaged or begins to rot.

🌿 Growing Tips
Be patient with this one! If the leaf has no stem or growth node attached, it can remain a healthy heart-shaped leaf for years without producing new growth. A leaf with a growth node is needed for the plant to develop into a proper vining Hoya.
