Commonly known as the Variegated Swiss Cheese Vine, this is a rare and highly sought-after climbing plant with striking white, cream, or yellow marbled patterns across its fenestrated leaves. Native to the tropical rainforests of Central and South America, this plant combines the natural charm of the classic Monstera Adansonii with dramatic variegation that makes each leaf unique.
☀️ - Requires bright, indirect light to maintain variegation. Too little light will cause the plant to lose its patterns, while harsh direct sun can scorch the pale sections. A well lit spot near an east- or north-facing window is ideal.
💧 - Water when most of soil feels dry. Keep the soil evenly damp at root level during the growing season, but reduce watering in winter.
🌡️ - Prefers warm temperatures between 18-26°C and should be kept above 13°C. Higher humidity will encourage lush growth, especially in the more delicate variegated areas of the foliage.
🪴 - Repot every 1-2 years in spring, moving up just one pot size. Use a chunky, well-draining, peat-free mix with bark, perlite, or coir chips to provide aeration. Water a day before repotting, keep the root ball level with the soil surface, and water thoroughly afterwards. Provide a moss pole or support to encourage climbing and larger leaf growth.
🐾 - Toxic to pets.
