Pellionia repens ‘Variegata’ is a beautiful trailing plant with small, textured leaves marked with pale green, cream and silvery tones. She has a naturally spreading habit and is particularly well suited to terrariums, hanging pots and humid plant displays.
☀️ Light
Bright, indirect light is ideal. Avoid strong direct sunshine, which can scorch her delicate foliage. She can tolerate lower light, although her growth may become more stretched and her variegation less pronounced.
💧 Watering
Keep the compost lightly and consistently moist, allowing the surface to dry slightly between waterings. She doesn't like being completely dried out, but avoid keeping the roots constantly saturated.
🌡️ Temperature & Humidity
She enjoys warm, humid conditions, ideally around 18-25°C. Higher humidity is particularly beneficial, making her a great candidate for a terrarium. Keep her away from radiators and cold draughts.
🪴 Potting
Use a light, moisture-retentive but free-draining mix. Peat-free compost or coco coir with perlite and fine bark works well. In a terrarium, provide a good drainage layer underneath the growing medium.
✂️ Pruning
Trim back long or untidy stems to encourage fuller growth. Healthy cuttings can be propagated easily in suitable conditions.
🌿 Growing Tips
She looks particularly lovely when allowed to trail over the edge of a pot. Consistent moisture, bright filtered light and good humidity will help keep her foliage looking full and healthy.
🐾 Pet Friendly
Pellionia repens is generally considered non-toxic to cats and dogs.
