Peperomia albovittata ‘Mistique’ is a compact houseplant with attractive, textured foliage and a lovely mix of green and silvery tones. Like other Peperomias, she has thick leaves that store moisture, so she's a good choice if you're looking for something that doesn't need constant watering.
☀️ Light
Bright, indirect light is ideal. She can tolerate some gentle morning or evening sun, but avoid strong midday sunshine. Lower light is tolerated, although growth may become slower and more stretched.
💧 Watering
Allow the top few centimetres of compost to dry out before watering. Her fleshy leaves store moisture, so she's much happier being slightly too dry than sitting in wet compost. Reduce watering during autumn and winter.
🌡️ Temperature & Humidity
Keep her somewhere warm, ideally around 18-26°C. Average household humidity is generally fine, so she doesn't need to be fussed over with regular misting. Keep her away from cold draughts and radiators.
🪴 Potting
Use a light, free-draining houseplant mix. Adding perlite or fine bark will help prevent the compost staying too wet. A pot with drainage holes is essential.
✂️ Pruning
Remove yellow or damaged leaves as needed. If stems become leggy, they can be trimmed back to encourage a more compact shape. Healthy cuttings can be propagated.
🌿 Growing Tips
Don't overwater her. Peperomias have relatively small root systems and their fleshy leaves hold plenty of moisture. Bright filtered light and a little time between waterings will keep her looking her best.
🐾 Pet Friendly
Peperomia albovittata is considered non-toxic to cats and dogs.
