Peperomia prostrata, commonly known as String of Turtles, is a delicate trailing houseplant loved for its tiny rounded leaves patterned like miniature turtle shells. Native to the rainforests of Brazil, this compact Peperomia naturally grows along the forest floor and over bark in its natural habitat, forming soft cascading stems that look beautiful spilling from shelves, small pots, or hanging planters.

It stays fairly slow-growing and compact, which makes it perfect for smaller spaces where you want detail rather than bulk. The intricate leaf pattern is best appreciated up close, where each little “shell” design really stands out.

☀️- She thrives in bright, indirect light. Some gentle morning or late afternoon sun is usually fine, but avoid prolonged harsh direct sunlight as this can scorch the delicate leaves and fade the patterning.

💧- Allow the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Water thoroughly in spring and summer, ensuring excess drains freely, then reduce watering in winter as growth slows, letting the soil dry out more between drinks. Avoid soggy compost at any time, as the fine roots are sensitive to overwatering.

🌡️- Ideal temperatures are 18-26°C. She enjoys warmth and moderate humidity, so keep away from cold draughts and dry heat sources.

🪴- Use a light, airy, well-draining compost with added perlite or orchid bark for airflow. Repot only when necessary, as she prefers to stay slightly snug in her pot.

🐾- Pet friendly.
