Saxifraga Cuneifolia Variegata

Saxifraga cuneifolia ‘Variegata’ is a gorgeous little plant with rounded green leaves splashed with creamy white and pretty pink tones. She has a compact, spreading habit and produces delicate white flowers on slender stems. Her small size and love of moisture make her particularly lovely for terrariums, bottle gardens and other miniature plant displays.

☀️ Light
Bright, indirect light is ideal. She can enjoy some gentle morning or evening sunshine, but avoid strong midday sun, especially through glass. Good light will help keep her variegated leaves looking their best and can encourage those lovely pink tones.

💧 Watering
Keep the compost lightly moist, but never soggy. Water when the surface has started to dry slightly, then allow any excess water to drain away. She appreciates consistent moisture, making her well suited to terrarium environments, but avoid waterlogged compost around her roots.

🌡️ Temperature & Humidity
She prefers cooler to moderate temperatures and appreciates good humidity. Around 15-22°C is ideal indoors, although she can tolerate a wider range once established. Keep her away from radiators and very dry, heated rooms. Her preference for higher humidity makes her a great choice for terrariums.

🪴 Potting
Use a light, moisture-retentive but free-draining mix. A peat-free houseplant compost mixed with perlite, fine bark or sphagnum moss works well. For terrariums, use a suitable terrarium substrate with good drainage underneath to prevent the roots sitting in stagnant water.

✂️ Pruning
Very little pruning is needed. Remove yellow or damaged leaves and trim away spent flower stems once flowering has finished. If she starts spreading beyond her space, you can gently trim her back.

🌿 Growing Tips
This is a lovely little plant for terrariums, mossy displays and miniature indoor gardens. Give her bright filtered light, steady moisture and plenty of humidity. Avoid placing a closed terrarium in strong sunlight, as temperatures inside can rise quickly.

Saxifraga cuneifolia is generally considered non-toxic to cats and dogs, making her a good option for pet-friendly plant displays.
